Well, this is the Koa Addy guitar that I have been working on...the average age of the wood is 113 years old...

Yes, the addy is from the beam. I have three or four more sets of that old RS and the tap is very bell like....I have hundreds of various tops and these really do stand out. I am going to use them on some very old BRW and Koa (from the same stock as this Koa). As for not finishing the others....well I had to finally reach a point that I wouldn't continue on with the three that are in molds until I put finishes on the ones that are strung up.....I love a beautiful finish but finishing is something that is still growing on me.

As for playability and sound, this is a new level for me....for a small guitar it is surprisingly loud and clear. The low end seems to really cut through well, it has alot of punch, good sustain and balance and has a bright sound. Playability is almost like a good Strat, I can't seem to put it down and haven't played anything else since---my Bourgeois isn't happy about that. Overall it is a nice fingerstyle guitar but the next one like this will have a little more body depth as I would like to warm it up just a bit. I put a B-Band XOM 4.2 pick up in it...seems like a pretty good system.

The wood:
Koa came from a hotel bar (in Hawaii) that was taken down in 1920. It is about 200 yrs old.

Top came from a feed mill factory that was in NY. It was built in 1903 and took up about 10 city blocks.

The neck stock came from a local Daryl's restaurant bar top that I got when they went out of business....it is Hondo Mahogany. It is at least 25 years old.

Binding is fig Myrtle Headplate is the old Koa.

Thanks for the cudos Mark.....I like the top also, some things do look better with Age. BTW the top came from my good friend Steve @ Colonial Tonewoods.
